Our archives contain material relating to Honiton Pottery, Crown Dorset Pottery, the work of Charles Collard and other related potteries.

The material consists mainly of original documents, copies of original documents, research work and photographs.

Articles and images from the archives are often featured in our newsletters.

Original business books from Honiton Pottery that were kindly loaned by a past owner of the pottery, Mr Paul Redvers. Accounts Ledgers covering 1937-44 and 1947-57 and a Daily Production Ledger covering June 1971 to April 1974 were studied and an article written for the newsletter (issue 55).

The life of John Phillips was studied and an article written for the newsletter (issue 49). Charles Collard was apprenticed to John Phillips.

Typical original material is a memorandum heading donated to the archives by Charles' daughter Joan Collard. It dates from the time when the family were living in Ilminster between 1916 and 1918 before they moved to Honiton. Charles used to cycle the 16 miles to the pottery every day for the first few months of his ownership.
